Auto Gearbox Issue

Hello,

I believe I need a new gearbox for my Toyota Hiace, 1997, 4WD, 3L, LH1009V-RRPDS

I don't want to get the wrong one!

How can I find out and be sure I have the correct part number for a full Auto Gear Box for my van?

Do part numbers exist for full gear boxes?

Any help much appreciated.

The gearbox code should be printed on the side of the transmission itself (passenger side I think) - it should also be on the chassis plate under the passenger seat. You may find that the chassis plate has the toyota code and the transmission has the Aisin code (Aisin is the actual manufacturer).

For example, my plate says Trans/Axle: A45DL / G252 and the transmission plate says Aisin Model No: 03-72L

So I should be able to source the right part with this number.

Yes, A45DF is the code. It's worth double checking what's on the side of the transmission itself - just to make sure.

How do you know that the Trans/Axle No and the Aisin Model No are the same thing when they are different numbers?

I think the Aisin unit does not include the bell housing, but not 100% sure. But google sorts it out. Aisin made the units for more than one company - so it's likely your A45DF is in other models (Mitsubishi, Honda, Volvo etc).
