Hi there, I have a 1994 Toyota hiace supercustom KZH106, 4WD, 1KZ model and I’ve been having problems with it starting. It started off with a couple bad starts but has been getting progressively worse and worse. I turn the key and there is a few seconds before anything happens and then suddenly it’ll start struggling to turnover and eventually start, all in about 10 seconds. It’s getting worse and am exspecting it to stop starting at this rate soon. I had the battery tested and the battery is fine. Any idea what it could be? Cheers

If the battery is ok and you're in NZ ( not cold now ) then maybe the connections or some sort of starting relay/ control unit thing. Sorry to be a bit vague I'm just thinking what I'd look for next.

No worries mate, Allgood. It could be the starter motor playing up but just wondering if anyone has any ideas

Hello Coleyflower (see what you did there, I think).
The DENSO starter motors fitted to Hiaces are very good, last a long time and normally have only a couple of typical problems. I think they are almost all virtually the same or very similar and easy to fix and fix up.
Progressive worsening suggest to me the contacts are failing. This is one of the easiest things to fix and YT is awash with helpful videos. The various online manuals are also worth a good luck as fixing starter motors is just something people used to do. This post might help you I think:
