| Subject: Is 1000CCA 110Ah too much for starting battery? 1995 2.8L Fri Nov 20, 2020 2:49 pm | |
| Hi all
I need a new starting battery for my 1995 2.8L Japanese Import Hiace. The battery that was in the van when I bought it around 3.5 years ago is 1000 CCA, 110Ah.
When I went to my local Auto Store to buy a replacement the staff seemed to think this type of battery in a van with this engine size very unusual, in fact they said in all their experience they had never seen a battery with that high a CCA in that type of van. They recommended a 750 CCA battery but if there is no exchange if it doesn't work.
Does anyone have any experience of this? Will a 750CCA battery work ok? It looks like it's a different size to the one that is already there, could that cause problems with fitting?
Thanks! | |

| My thought is that more cranking is better especially with a diesel you don’t want it undersized. I’d try a battery specific store, farm supply or rv or diesel place they will have a better idea than the generic local auto place where the kid just punched it up on the computer.
My 91 Hiace has 2 batteries set up in parallel, not sure of the specs but replaced them with similar group/ rating with ones from Costco I believe. It’s really tight and there’s a specific way of getting them both in, so in this case the exact size and dimension was a big concern for me. Good luck with yours.
