Engine Labours to Start - Said to be Air Flow meter ? Empty

I have a 1998 Hi-Ace, 3lt turbo diesel. Recently had the fuel pump re-built and then found a capacitor on the ECU was burnt, which meant that the engine would not run at over 1000rpm

Had the ECU repaired (replaced the burnt capacitor) and the engine now runs well, except for starting.

It labours to start - Have to keep the starter motor cranked on well after the engin starts to take - Then lots of white smoke and the engine then runs well.

It's not the glow plugs.

The mechanics say that an "Air Flow Meter" waring is showing.

Any sugegstions ? If a part is needed, any idea on how to source it - I live in Brisbane, Australia
