Looking for an aftermarket alternator for my 1991 Super Custom with the 3L engine. Not looking to refurb the existing one, wanting a spare for a road trip.
Scoured this site and the web and unable to find a clear answer. Anyone have a brand/part number? Many thanks!

Hello
The EPC lists various alternators within the ‘Engine, fuel…’ etc pages and these seem to range from 60A to 80A (PNC 27020), presumably depending on what electrical consumption the van is fitted with. Do you have any stickers / numbers on the current one?
Several OEM part numbers are on Amayama (starting 27060-).
You probably have this but the EPC landing page is: https://toyota.epc-data.com/regius_ace/
On this side of the pond I’d cross-reference with Autodoc (which will give you a list of manufacturers), but I wouldn’t buy a Toyota-badged item. This is the perfect definition of a ‘catalogue’ part, probably originally made for Toyota by DENSO but there are lots of equivalents. Hopefully the Amayama or equivalent numbers cross-reference once you know the size?
There were a few posts on here quite recently from a Westcountry (UK) Forum member who got a new alternator from:
https://www.startermotor-alternator-store.co.uk/
I’d recommend a Forum search but I’m unsure if he quoted a number or size, plus yours might be different.
Anyway, this company is local to me and they have been absolutely first class for me over the years.
They list these: https://www.startermotor-alternator-store.co.uk/toyota-hi-ace-alternator-934-c.asp
But again it depends on size (Amps).
While it might not be feasible to buy from the UK here is another source of parts numbers… Also you could try to call / email. They are superbly knowledgeable and those quoted prices will be hard to beat, but postage might be prohibitive?
BTW, some alternators also include the vacuum pump (for brake and selection of 4WD) so you need to know whether this is on yours or not.
Sorry not to be definitive but here are some useful sources to take this further.
Cheers!

If you're in Portland, OR, I'd swing by the guys at Vanlife Northwest; they have OEMs in stock. Today, on their website, they seem to be out of stock, however, I'm sure they get fresh stock in https://www.vanlifenorthwest.com/products/hiace-alternators
I managed to purchase 4 alternators. 1 fit into the vehicle, but was faulty, 2 didn't fit into the vehicle, and 1 has worked like a dream for several thousand km. I bought it here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079WBQNK7?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Thanks LH119V and Char for the replies! I ended up purchasing an alternator from Japan through Buyee, no idea what brand it is but the listing called out my model number and the part number so the odds are good it'll fit.
Char you have a 1KZ motor, so that Amazon link doesn't work for my van. The alternator for the 3L has the vacuum pump attached to the front, and my year has a round plug vs the oval plug that is on newer models, so it was a pretty tough hunt for me.
I also was able to score this for about half of what VanlifeNW is charging
Since it's going to serve as a spare, fingers crossed I never need it, and if I do, it fits!
When it arrives I'll update this post with some pictures/details.
Here's the auction title for searchers (bold face on my van's part number):

Well that was fast! Arrived quickly from Japan in a pretty banged up box (w/ bubble wrap on the outside?!?). Luckily no visible damage or loose/broken pieces and the pulley turns smoothly.
This thing has absolutely zero markings on it whatsoever, but it looks like the right item, same as the listing photos, so here's hoping!
