power loss 2 mins after starting

it is still going! cant trust dodgy fuel pumps - they tease you by coming back to life again - but then overall it is all downhill.

done 1500km with fuel pump from wreckers now - running all good

its a bit juicy though getting 420km to a full tank.. anyone know if this is normal? (have changed air filter) thx

Still going fine - i dont think it was anything to do with the ECU whatsoever.

I ended up getting an identical fuel pump from a wreckers, out of a working vehicle.

I spoke to a few so called "Diesel experts specialist places", I learnt that many (not all) don't have the first clue what they are talking about or doing unfortunately.

@Bagface that can be said of many supposed expert places in almost any field nowadays. Unfortunately many of the old hands who really knew their stuff have retired and thus have been lost to the customer.
I'm pleased for you that you seem to have had a successful fix for your problem.

Part of the problem with modern so called experts is they can do nothing if the vehicle cannot be connected to a computer or at least a code reader . I have many times tried to acquire a devise for my SC 1kzte , it has the required OBD socket but you need a specific Toyobd device to talk to it, these are no longer available.

@JT69 is there any info anywhere as to what the specific device contains? You'd think by now someone would have analysed it and posted up some findings somewhere on the internet.
For example I was able to find the necessary info to create one for my housemate's BMW and can now run the factory software (mostly in German!) to read and change things. Do some Googling when you have time and see what you can find, maybe we can create one.
