| Hi I'm thinking about fitting a towbar, but I'm not sure if the UK Hiace van up to 96 is the same as my import cruising cabin poptop camper. It's type KD-KZH116G-GHPDT. I don't have a UK model to compare mine with. Anyone advise please? Al | |

| My 97 SC has a standard towbar fitted that would go on a domestic model Hiace. Rear chassis is the same even though it is coil sprung instead of the domestic leaf rear end. Only problem was the resonator bumps it. I'll get it cut off and a new one hung. Also get a droopy tip to prevent exhaust ash on legs . | |

| I have been trying to get a look at a domestic market one to see if it was similiar but aint had a chance...... considering the last 2 towbars I 've purchesed have been around £100 inc postage (x-trail and a bongo) I find the price watlings is charging a bit of a rip off.... | |

| Couldn't help you there. Since I'm in Sydney . But I imagine the chassis is the same all over the world. They're not really supposed to have too high a limit on towing capacity due to the way the bar mounts to the chassis. I don't know how some of the members here go towing huge twin axle caravans . The Delica is supposed to have better towing capacity but has a less powerful engine . | |

| Thanks guys Searching around I've found a few but this is the cheapest. It's for a Compact. Does that mean it's a short wheel base? Or maybe there's no difference at the back anyway, where the bar attaches. It's £69inc vat. Here's the link. There's a pdf on it too. http://www.towsure.com/product/15125-Towbar-_Toyota_Hi-Ace_Compact_94-97 Al | |

| I kinda changed my mind a bit to be honest. Was going to sell my Passat (with towbar) and use the hiace as a second car to wife's Polo. Now I think I might keep the Passat so I don't really need the towbar as urgently. Had also been thinking of engineering a hinge-out bike rack from the towbar but I've gone and bought a VWT4 Fiamma rack which I've modified to fit, so thats another reason why I don't need a towbar! I'll pm you with a link for a cheap one though, seeing as you're first to ask. If you don't want it,you could post it up here for someone else maybe? AL | |

| You may have to drill holes but there should be dimples in the chassis?
May be worth marking them and get a garage to drill them for you? | |
