| Has anyone fitted a toebar to their hiace? Is it costly to do? Can it be done with the fuel tank where it is? | |

| Yeah tow bar is no problem i fitted one myself. It is the same as normal Hiace. Some fitting company's won't touch it being an import but you can insist that it's the same chassis as our Aussie Hiace's of that year model. | |

No, we may need to move & husband thinks putting a towbar & hiring a trailer is a good option to move the contents that comes with 7 people 3000kms to cairns QLD.... Me not so much.
What the towing capacity on them? 99 3ltr diesel

| Why not contact the link I gave you and click on "stockists" then ask the stockists who fits towbars in that particular area? | |

| To be honest Fiona, moving to Queensland I would rent a truck. I think it could be cheaper in the long run. Rex | |

| All 100series Hiace's share the same chassis so yes the UK spec vans should be no different? | |

| if its anything yesterday i found myself dragging a trailer for 200 miles in mine , the trailer weighs near a ton , the cars 1660kg , so were talking a fair degree of weight and i was a little concerned for the old girl , mines a 3.0td auto
as it happened the trailer when empty was near ignored , there was a slight drop in acceleration but not much , this surprised me as i thought id struggle , with the car on the back ( toyota celica gt4 gen6 st205) it still pulled happily enough , ok it was never going to set any speed records but it was about as quick as my old 2.0 petrol space cruiser , i wasnt a liability trundling around and once on the move it wasnt easy to keep to the speed limit due to the weight , at one point we accidentally hit 68 mph and i kept it at 60 all the way home without a moments trouble , hills were also ok , fuel wasnt at around the 15 mpg ( oops )
good if a little bouncy is the verdict for towing with them

| Hey all
I have an interesting one for you all.
Went to get a towbar fitted on my M reg (1994/95) lwb, 4x4, japanese import camper today at lnb towbars in Bristol UK for a quoted £225 all in. I get a call this afternoon and he tells me that they have ordered the part for a 1995 Hiace (which is stated on docs) but mine is actually a 1994 therefore the part they ordered doesn't fit. They have tried everywhere for the right part without success and they best they can do is get one manufactured for £335. I said I'd think about it and they tried to charge me forthem ordering the wrong part, I believe is their mistake (they are the towbar experts right!). Anyway, got out of there without paying after a little debate on the issue.
A hiace towbar search on ebay (not the most reliable I guess) and I find options for 2WD, 4WD, SWB, LBW, 1990-97, 1994-97, late 1995, 1996, etc, etc, and various combinations of the above!
So, who is right and what van have I got? Discuss!
Grateful for any advice and clarification

| Hi,
go to the site http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/q.html and enter your VIN or chassis number and it should bring up all your vehicle's details. I have found it very useful to determine exactly what vehicle I've got.
Cheers,
Werner | |

| toyodiy seems to have done the trick. I appear to have an LH129V. No reason to doubt it as all the other details are correct - 4WD, auto, window van, hightop, etc.
plenty of towbars on fleebay. My choices seem to be 1990-95 or 1994-97 suggesting there was an overlap in model production. Given that numb nuts ordered part for a 1995 and told me mine was a 1994, I am betting I need the 1990-95.
Sent another email to towequipe who are selling both parts so we'll see what they have to offer.
