All I've ever done is hook up the vacuum bleeding bottle on the longest line first and working back to shortest line and keep toping up the bottle with fluid.
Done all sorts of cars with ABS brakes with no problems.
The old pump and hold works ok but if your peddle is creeping it must have eaither air in system or leaking brake fluid , did you check the rear slave cylinders as I had to replace both mine.Good idea to replace them with new rear shoes.
