My SC 94 auto is stuck in park and I have to use the unlock button everytime.
Have checked all fuses, brakes working fine.
Am now trying to remove plastic around gear stick to take a better look but can’t seem to remove it.
Am looking for a manual which is proving impossible.
Any help would be appreciated

Hey lovemytoyota, happy Friday.

Firstly you can get to what we are going to discuss by going in sideways on the shifter. The furry carpet panel is held in with just clips and you pull it straight out sideways trying not to break any tabs.

You’ll now be able to see the shift computer and solenoid hiding in there. Think there’s some screws too. I’ll attach a document on how the system operates if you need it.

The shift lock system uses a “shift lock computer” to operate the release solenoid. It’s right under the shifter with three little harnesses going to it. It gets signals from the brake light switch, the shift lock control switch, and the ignition key cylinder to command the solenoid at the right time.

If you believe wiring is the issue or you want to troubleshoot why the solenoid isn’t working, the breakdown is as follows:

Pin:
1 GRY. ACC
3 YELLOW. IGN
6 BLU/RD. Key Interlock Solenoid command
8 GRY/WT. Stop Light Switch command

SLS-  BLU
SLS+ BLU/RD

P1, P, P2 go to the shift lock control switch.

Good luck and God Bless
-Bryan
