PostSubject: Transfer case   Transfer case Icon_minitimeTue Nov 01, 2022 8:31 pm

First time posting and in need of some help. I have a 1996 KZH126 that we have converted into a camper here in the States. Recently my transfer case has given up the ghosts and so I am in search of a new t-case. I had read somewhere that there are some US Tacoma’s that have a compatible t-case but I have been unable to confirm 100%.
Otherwise I am looking for a t-case if anyone has a lead on one.
I know it’s a long shot but thought I’d see if anyone here might know for sure.
Appreciate any help.

Hello and welcome to the forum

For parts checking more broadly and also for a transfer box (and some other resources) check out this linked post, which is also a bit brief so search the bold terms:

https://hiace-super-custom.forumotion.com/t4468-part-numbers

I can’t be certain (as I’ve never checked) but I expect the transfer box to be very widely used across many, many Toyota vehicles; also probably Hino, Nissan, Mitsubishi etc. It’s probably made by AISIN.

The point is I’d suggest using the resources in the linked post I refer to, to find the OEM part number, then take this information to a good gearbox specialist in your local area who is familiar with Toyotas of this sort of era to work out what to do.

If the case has not cracked a rebuild might be more cost effective and the linked post resources will show you how to check out all the internal parts. DIY service of the transfer box is possible but a specialist would be where I’d go to.

HTH!

plug your frame number into epc-data...grab the oem part number....then go to toyodiy and see what other toyotas shared that part number

It may be too late but the Xfer case in the Tacoma won't fit, I ended up getting mine from a SUpercharged Previa.
