Subject: Auto gear box issues Sat Nov 10, 2012 6:27 pm
Hello I have a '94 Hiace camper with a 2.8 d engine and an auto gearbox. Its been a fine van for years, but the autogearbox is starting to play up. It refuses to shift up through the gears unless the van has been moving for about 10/15 minutes. I have drained and replenished the gearbox but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas?

Filter maybe? Did the oil smell burnt when you dropped it?

It was a bit grotty, but not burnt. Cleaned out the filter but to no avail..

It would appear that the kick down cable is stuck in the open position. i.e. it thinks the pedal is to the floor at all times. Going to free it up tomorrow and see what happens.

Glad to say all is back to normal, a bit of wd40 down the kick down cable sheath, a bit of a wiggle and a dash of machinre oil. Good as new if not better. I reckon they are better than any vw. Thanks for your interest and suggestions on this issue.
