Nehalem River, Oregon. First camping trip with the van. Was really nice to gaze up through the moonroof at the tree canopy! Was also surprised at how well the van retained our body heat compared to a tent. Overnight lows were 40F/4C and we were quite cozy.

Yes, but it does help that your van has some interior, and not just plain steel. I would love to have a Hiace with these big sunroofs.

Here are a few pics and clips from a Pacific Northwest JDM van meet-up that ventured into the Indian Heaven wilderness area in Washington state. Really fun time with a nice mix of Hiaces (Super GL & Super Custom each in both 3L & 1KZ flavors), Delicas, a Master Ace Surf, and a few other 4x4s. I was really impressed with how well the van performed, I threw a lot at it and it handled pretty well. I'm quite glad I had just received and installed my 'skid plate' as I bonked it a couple good times along the way! Even with a near 3" combined lift in the front, the approach angle is still not the greatest. A 10-pack of 2-way radios made for entertaining chatter, and also super helpful when a few vans got stuck or got a flat tire.
Couple short videos, laughing at myself for being too far left crossing that gully!
