Hi

Just got back from getting my 1993 SC 1KZ-te diesel serviced and been told that somehow in the goldfields here in Bendigo I hit something and the guys can’t access the air filter as the housing has ‘concertinaed’ and they need to somehow get it out and replace. I can’t find a thing about this anywhere and can’t read or understand any parts cos I’m pretty hopeless and have no idea what I’m looking for. Why is it under the van anyway? Is there a newer replacement housing that will fit it? Any help appreciated.

Also they filled the first radiator with 5 litres of water but it hasn’t shown as boiling over or getting too hot? There’s no smoke and gaskets good etc and she’s only got 227000 on her.

She’s set up for camping with all the bases and drawers and slide out table etc but I have injuries to my spine from working all these years and I  can’t use her like that and was thinking of selling her (Bendigo) but I’d like to know where I stand first.

Upset and confused. Any advice appreciated.  Don’t know how to add photos so I don’t know if it came up or not, or I’d send the invoice.Advice please! Img_7312

Hmmmm...
The air filter thing is interesting ... There's nothing in that area that could be in the way..
Its a pretty empty pocket of the under carriage...
The only thing i can think of is perhaps the backside of the inner arch (where the mudflaps bolt to) has been hit by something & is bent..
So unable to undo the wingnut/bolt??? Bit weird tho..
The adding '5 litres of water' is of concern to me ..thats almost half of the max litres (dependent on heater set up)
Why not top up with coolant?
If the rad is leaking that bad i would be getting a new 1 straight away... they are about $400ish - guy off ebay in Sydney.. i grabbed a main rad off him & no issues whatsoever..

I'd be taking it to another joint... maybe a 4wd joint where they have to think out of the box sometimes to do repairs...

I was writing why it would be leaking like that. It has two radiators so why is there no water in it and no heat on the gauge!? The member that attaches to the air filter is buckled. Thanks but these guts are v popular here sms are nice and are pretty fair in prices. I’m not taking it too natrad and I’ve organised the filter. That’s just a smash repair. Was really asking advice on both but guess I’ll leave it to them. Can’t get to the thing to unscrew it because t the member is bent as I said.

Guys I meant. Fair and pretty good. V popular here and not too off merchants. Could have hit the radiator too if I hit it that badly. Maybe a tiny leak? I’ve not typed up since coming back from Adelaide to bendigo last November and she was still going strong! Strange!
