Hi Super Custom clan, Just joined the club when I imported this 1992 4WD Super Custom from Japan to Sydney Australia late last year. I've done lots of short trips already and I love it. Looking forward to a longer trip with the dog and a surfboard one day.

I'll trade you: just under $3 per litre this week when I filled my car, likely over $3 now and rising daily.

Hi Rowan, I have a 1992 4wd also, just a custom, not a super custom, though I'm not sure what the difference is!
I bought mine last year, too, foolishly thinking a diesel will save me money (Ironically, I last owned a diesel back in 1992 - VW golf).
Loving it.
Keep in touch, many adventures to come, I'm currently on the north coast of NSW, heading to Lake Arragan. Getting in a week before teaching at uni resumes.
I decided to buy a map and navigate old school. Just for the laugh

Looking at the dates on these posts and trying to collate the price of fuel, ours in the UK peaked about mid 2022 diesel is now about £1.65 ltr Petrol £1.45 . Fortunately I have found an alternative to the extortionate prices , WVO or used cooking oil, we in the UK are allowed to use 2500 per year untaxed. There are 2 ways to use it , convert it to bio diesel not too difficult or in older engines (indirect injection) use it as is but filtered and de watered much simpler. Our SC 1kzte is one of the best older engines to use WVO 100% or a mix with diesel dependant on weather temp. We are now in our 4th year of WVO that I collect from our local Indian takeaway paying 20/30p a ltr for oil with no water or rubbish that is equivalent to 180 miles per gallon as opposed to 30 as we say in the UK.
PS : Must add be aware its not just a case of collect it filter it chuck it in the tank there is much more to it, but I am no scientist just a 74 year old bricklayer. Do some research there is loads of info on the Internet.

Hi Gonewild, I love it. Go old school maps. My kids can't read them, they need tech or they are lost! Have a great rest of the trip. Send some photos!
Hi JT69, Fantastic that you are using alternate fuels. One day we will all have to go there. Diesel here today was cheapest AUD1.96. I will look into that. I'm a bit scared though. So hard to find parts for these old girls now and frighten I might do something major.
