1994 3L Turbo Diesel Super Custom 4x4 : ECT selector switch

Hi there again!!
Can anyone - in a rather clear manner - describe to me the use of the ECT selection mounted on the console?
I deduct that it is for Electronic Traction Control: but when is it used or of what value under what driving conditions etc?

No it's Electronic Transmission Control.

A bit like Sports Mode in other automatics, just holds the gear a little longer keeping the revs up for those drag starts that you do. Not a lot of use, only ever used mine when towing and starting a long hill without a run up.
What it does do is pull the full level down a little quicker!
