1992 Yokohama HiAce camper.....newby needs help!

Hi All from not-so-sunny Perthshire

Ridiculous I know, but how exactly do you remove the centre console to get into the engine to check fluid levels etcetera?
Also, where is the battery in this vehicle?
Sorry to ask such stupid questions but I just can't figure it out and the handbook in Japanese is no help.

battery behind passenger seat and in front of pass seat under carpet is a lever that is operated and under the front centre console is another lever hook that will then open the engine bay
