Hi all,

I just imported a 1991 Hiace SuperCustom w/ a 2.8 L Diesel engine (no turbo) from Japan and am very happy with the condition it is in. I have hundreds of questions that I could post here but most of them could likely be answered if I had a shop manual in English. I have some literature that came w/ the van but it is in Japanese (which I do not read).

Where can I get a shop manual in English? The Toyota dealer here would have nothing to do w/ me and I tried a website based in OZ but they did not want to ship to Canada…? Any tips on what manual to buy and who to buy it through would be useful.

Alternatively, a scanned PDF would be even better and likely a huge draw to this site.

I have a pdf of the 1kz-te engine which I could like to if that helps but not the full manual (as yet)..

My VIN # starts with LH107G
Am I correct to assume that I have the LH10 Engine?

My HiAce is a 1991 (this list is for 1992 on) and as such, it does not quite fit into this scheme...

It's most like #13 (no moon roofs) but what does MV&1Box mean?

Not sure only that thats the name that the Japanese makers call that body (not just Toyota)

Other abbreviations used

FF - front engine, front wheel drive
FR - front engine, rear wheel drive
RR - rear engine, rear wheel drive
4WD - four wheel drive
MID - middle engine, rear wheel drive
AT - automatic transmisson
MT - manual transmission
CVT - continuously variable transmission
D - diesel
G - gasoline

Hey did you mange to find yourself a maintenance manual?
I am really struggling to find one I went to a Toyota dealer and they couldn't help I have been looking on ebay and they just have the engine manuals.

I have issues with my gear box not going into reverse when it has been running (strangely will when it is cold). So I was thinking of buying one off a hiace that is being broken for spares but wouldn't like to attempt to change it without instructions. If you are able to hook me up I would be willing to pay for your trouble. 0113 2165480
