Wiring

I want to hard wire my GPS into the dash where the ashtray is but my problem is I still want it to run off the key so the closest wire is the cigarette lighter (where it is plugged in now). When I got at the back to chomp a wire to do this I saw that it has a couple of boxes hanging off it's arse. Not knowing what these little suckers do I put the chompers away to get more info. Anyone got any idea what they are or can suggest an easy way for me to get power to the above mentioned GPS.

i would just wire it into any accessory wire like the radio or something easy to get to.
just go to the fuse box and probe with a test light
the lighter is a bugger to get out

I agree with the bugger to get out thats for sure. Thanks for the input mate. The wireless was put in by Supercheap or one of those I forget now(the Toyo one was crook so put in a Kenwood cd and tape player 2 din), and they stuffed it up but will try to track down something.

Easier to pick up a accessory wire from the back of the fuse box.
Or the rough way is pock your + wire in with the fuse and ground the - wire
