You have a way with words Laughing

Mine are 205-70-15 and aren't too bad in wind. No worse than any other Ace anyway

I have changed the rims and put on 235 x 45 x 17 tyres with a weight rating 20Kg higher than the LT tyres that were on it before. XL rated and about95W I think. Can run a lot more pressure too. The LT tyres were max of only 35 psi.

Fit within gaurds and has minimised wind related problems by a huge amount. Corners a lot flatter too. I only got 20,000 Km from the front LT tyres as they just scrubbed off the shoulders fast. Be interesting to see how many kilometers these get. Traction is better in the wet now too.

Keep us up to date Robbo . Sounds like a good option. How did it effect the ride?

It's a lot firmer of course, but usually not uncomfortable except on rough roads. Steering response for a van is great and it has a slightly smaller diameter. This allows it to accelerate marginally better in higher gears. On the motorway, the suspension doesn't oscillate on small bumps any more, much smoother.

Wheelspin off a right hand corner is now all but gone unless you deliberately provoke it under WOT. Body roll is so much reduced that it's actually more comfortable on winding roads or suburban driving. Stability is much better at speed and in wind, it looks so much better too :~).

For the Aussies here, they're Territory stock steel rims. 17 x 7.5" and plenty strong enough for a van. No registration issues. You can just make it out in my avatar.

The old stock van rims and rear LT tyres are now on the trailer. Changed the bearing hubs from Holden stud pattern to Ford stud pattern. Was cheaper than replacing with new tyres.

I think the higher pressures are for an LT tire. Tire guy told me to go 45 psi all around with my Yokohama Geolanders.
My van had P205/70R15. I bought the Van in a snowstorm in Vancouver. The P tires with a lower tire pressure were absolutely fantastic in the 6in deep snow, but I run mostly on logging roads and carry a lot of gear.
Had to go with LT, even though I can't get the stock size.
