Rear Sunroof

Any ideas on how to get it opened?  I hear the motor--but nothing is happening.  I imagine the van has been sitting for a while and I see a bit of rust bubbling around certain points by the rear pop up sunroof.  Maybe the seals are just jamming it?  Before I go start on it--would like to see if anyone else had similar challenges.
