City diesel

Does any one know if the 3L engine in a 2.8L 1993 hi ace super custom is safe to run on this crappy low sulphur city diesel thats springing up every where now.

As far as i can work out this stuff has kind of the same effect on an unsuitable diesel engine as unleaded has on a leaded engine just at a slower rate (probably about the same rate as LRP kills a leadded engine - there is a way round this though - use LRP and an in line converter)

We have this same low sulphur diesel here in Canada. The 3L engine runs fine on it but apparently you must add a lubricant to the fuel so that your injector pump does not wear out prematurely. You can either buy an additive or put some canola in your tank.

I see you are already blending at 25% so I wouldn’t worry about it.

cheers for that city diesel is the cheapest fuel you can get over hear at the moment - still £1.12 a litre though !
