| Any metric spanner/socket set will do. Are you planning on doing major surgery or is it just in case?
Certainly don't buy Toyota tools but not cheap alloy ones either.
Ring open ended and sockets of the same size all come in useful.
I got a cheap socket set from Asda, selection of spanner sets and deep sockets from boot sales and expensive pliers and mole grips, not been stuck for the correct size yet. | |

| Thanks Clive, this is mostly just in case to complete the toolkit. I m planning to borrow all the tools for a big check up, but then I ll be on the road for 2 years, so I need to know which spanner I MUST take with me I ll probably go for a good quality spanner set, but it s a bit expensive so if I can pick only the ones I really need, this may save some money ! cheers, David | |

| You will need the following: 10mm 12mm 14mm 17mm 19mm
All in ring / open ended combination spanners. You will also need a Number 1 and a number 2 Phillips head screwdriver and a plain Slot head screwdriver. A pair of bull nose and a pair of pointy nose pliers and a pair of multi-grips would not go astray either.
The best bet is to go to one of the cheap stores and buy one of the combination spanner sets that come in a vinyl roll. Most of the other tools I've mentioned are available in those shops too.
That is what I carry and it does the job nicely. After all, they are just there for emergencies, not to be able to remove the engine on the side of the road.
