Breaking 1995 Super Custom 3.0 Turbo Diesel

After a little altercation with a large, solid retaining wall, my Super Custom is not so super!

Although the damage is relatively minor, the car is an insurance write-off - entirely due to the cost of the parts.

The damage is all to the nearside front corner - headlight, indicator, bumper and the large panel under the windscreen.

It is more than likely that I will be breaking this car but I will have to wait for clearance from my insurance company.

The car is a manual transmission 2 wheel drive with 112,000KM on the clock - it has the usual responsive and reliable 1KZ-TE engine.

Please post requests for parts.

Dazza ,before all us vultures descend on your bus,have you considered locating a small bodyshop to repair the damage. If you locate a Hiace in a breakers,a chunk could be cut out & grafted on to yours.A good panel guy should be capable of this. Worth a look.

Yes, this is an option although finding one in a breakers is no mean feat in itself!

Please post requests for parts and I will deal with these on a first come, first served basis (should I decide to break the vehicle and if the insurance company allow me to do so).

I am still using the car daily.

The 24/7 breakers site is worth a try for a shell. Lots around the last time I looked. However a job like this can be a bit of a bind unless you have a motor trade mate to assist.Some breakers will cut off panels to order. Keep us posted.

Not having a good time over the last few weeks!

Went to Waltham Abbey in it over the weekend and managed to dent the drivers door on a post in McDonalds car park. Still... as it's a write-off anyway..

The insurers finally wrote to me yesterday with an offer of £2,550 for the value of my bus, less £127.50 for me to buy it back. I'm quite pleased with that!

Still not sure if I'm going to break it - it seems too good to dismantle.

Give Wellhouse a buzz as I was on the website and they had recently added Hiace's for breaking. May worth give them a call.

Dazza: I might be interested in some bits and pieces if you decide to break it. If your planning on getting another I would consider keeping the gearbox, pedals and tailshaft as they are pretty hard to find in manual.
