Illumination meter cluster into 98 1kz te A/T

Hi I’m new here. Owning a Granvia 1998, 1kz te automatic (also known as Grandhiace)

It’s originally got a gauge cluster with RPM meter but odo is analog although speedo is functioning via a sensor signal from tranny 


Now I’m in the process of upgrading it with parts from 2005 model. Part of the package is an illumination cluster. Wired all wires carefully examining the old meter cluster. Everything works except RPM meter. 

Can someone please let me know whether the RPM meters of old gauge cluster and new cluster works the same way (pulse or voltage from ECM) or newer illumination cluster works using a different pulse which is not supported by the old ECM in my van.
