Hi, Just had a bad case of poor starting in the current icy conditions. Took 3 or 4 goes of
cranking before it fired up with lots of white smoke.
Figured it was down to a glowplug being faulty.
Couldn't believe it when I checked them. The resistance should be
about 1 ohm or less.
All 4 plugs were duff!
The old glow plugs resistances measured 59 ohms, 10 megohms, 0.5 megohms and open circuit!
I'm not surprised it was struggling to start!
Anyway, the replacements I fitted to my 3L engine are
www.Blueprint-adl.com - part number ADT31807.
They look the same as the old ones and it starts fine now.
top tip, don't over tighten the plastic nuts that hold the glow plug busbar onto
the glow plugs. There is a threaded brass sleeve inside the nut which comes adrift if you
over tighten. Doh!, fitted ok but I'll struggle to get it off in future.
I reckon finger tight would be sufficient so as not to do the same.
cheers
