| Righto, this has been ongoing long enough to warrant seeking any help possible! I was driving along, accelerated a bit heavier than usual which is out of the ordinary. Parked, turned off my SC attempted to start again and was struggling to turn over. Finally kicked over, got 300 metres down the road and it just conked out. Would barely kick back over, chugged very heavily and blew intermittent strong puffs of white smoke. Absolutely starved of fuel it sounded like. So I lift the seat, notice the vacuum sensor (image attached in my greasy hand) has blown both hoses off and snapped one of the plastic connectors. Assuming this is the problem, I fixed the sensor only to be still stuck with the same problem. Starved and not kicking over. So I swap the fuel filter, begin to try and prime up the line and getting a vacuum through the line and the Primer isn’t getting harder to compress. So using the bleed nipple (image attached) I begin to bleed the air from the line... snap. Completely snapped the inlet tube join off the bleed bolt. I’m lost and unsure where to go from here, I cannot find that part anywhere and was desperately hoping in the nicest way possible, that someone else may have unfortunately experienced the same issue?? Or maybe some advice?? Please also note, at this point in time with no work I can’t really afford $400 odd dollars for a new injector pump. I’m extremely grateful for any help and advice anyone can offer me. Thank you!

| Thanks so much for the help! Fingers crossed can get the part in and get it running again. If anyone’s got any little time saver tips or advice, thanks in advance!

| Sounds to me like your entire fuel system needs cleaning start at the back take the tank of pull out the dip pipe clean the screen on the end (mine was 95% blocked) blow through the fuel lines new filter then the hard bit the IP pump inlet filter and the the one under the solenoid (be very careful here), there is a very good vid on youtube , all that done check the return flow with the engine running on low throttle there should be about 2-3 ltrs a min even on full throttle there should be a good flow with no air, put the pipe in a clear coke bottle to check. I had similar problems even removed the IP (not recommended its a pig of a job) and had it tested by diesel specialists who said it passed all pressure tests. Would add all this should be done on vehicle this age, do this before suspecting a faulty IP it will cost nothing only time and is not too difficult ( I am 72 and not a mechanic) good luck. | |

| Looking at the pic and diagram thats the inlet banjo that has snapped you can probably get a non toyota one locally, look down the hole you will see one of the filters that need cleaning there is another on the side of the IP under the temp sensor allso in the diagram. | |

| Hey JT, Thanks so much for the details response mate, the thought crossed my mind that during the heavy once off acceleration, something was sucked through either from the tank or line, It seemed more logical because when I replaced the fuel filter I found a soft but solid sort of discoloured object, small, maybe 2mm in diameter on the filter itself, so I’m uncertain of what may have made it through and possibly blocked further up. I’ll follow your advice in the morning! Thanks guys for the link and the knowledge. Absolute lifesavers. | |

| UPDATE Turns out i was overanalysing the whole thing. I replaced the filter, primed the pump correctly bled the air from the injector pump and she went and kicked over. I did, however, develop a fuel leak on the heater assembly casing atop of the filter and pump. i have temporarily sealed around it using an epoxy resin. | |
