| So hopefully I have located the overheat problem on my Cruising Cabin and it isn't a cracked cylinder or head gasket issue as my mechanic suggested it sounded like Water is peeing out of the underneath when engine ticking over - right hand side of the rad covered in a line of mucky fluid....what are my options, or aren't there any viable ones other than finding a replacement rad? It is a 1991 Cruising Cabin | |

| You should be able to get the radiator fixed, but that will mean getting the radiator out in the first place which could be a little bit involved. Lots of classic car owners end up getting their radiators reconditioned or re-cored(?). If you don't know about the http://www.toyodiy.com website get yourself on there, plug in your van details, and find out the part number for the radiator, it could be less than you think. | |

| Coolant looks a bit old, could be why the radiator let go. If you carefully take the fan, shroud and bottle off if should come off ok and lift out.
Use Toyota long-life red coolant when you put it back together, but also change the thermostat at the same and maybe try to flush it out with a hosepipe.

| I could get a replacement radiator the next day. I vould even choose between an 38mm core (same as what I had) or a 50mm core, but that would have a longer delivery time. This is all through regular car parts system, no specialist radiator reconditioning needed.
So should be available. My mechanic was complaining about getting it out and in.
Would suggest to flush the whole system with water, also open the interior heater and flush that.
While it is out, you can also get the timing belt and stuff done. I got everything done including new waterpump.

I have just spoken with my mechanic and the problem is when he has done a registration search my van is coming up as a 2.4, when it is actually a 2.8. I looked on a radiator specialist site, but the only radiator for 1991 2.8 diesel is coming up as manual transmission, whereas mine is auto. Does anyone know of a UK site where I may be able to find one or at least anywhere where I can find the correct part number? Thanks in advance.
