rear bumper upgrade. tow hitch?

Hello,

Looking to beef up my rear bumper and possibly add some racking/storage options. Doesn't seem to be a good place to attach to the unibody. Is there a way to do this?

We built a rear swing out bumper on top of the tow hitch frame. Attached on three points. Seems to be sturdy enough but it is new and hasnt been loaded and through a rough trip yet

So it is attached to the left and right attachment points of the tow bar frame, and also to the center plate where the tow hitch used to be. We are carrying a Zagres case, two jerrycans and a big spare wheel on it.

This sounds like what we'd like to build. Do you have any photos you could post?

I don't have any clear pictures of the mounting. On the picture below you can see the two bolts which go on the tow hitch plate (we removed the tow hitch itself). Next to that, there are supports left and right, which are bolted on the left and right support plates of the tow hitch frame (which is in turn bolted to the chassisbeams under the car like every standard tow hitch)

By the way, the vehicle is raised and has bigger tires. That may change the perspective a little bit.
And we added a leaf in the leaf suspension, so it can take more weight.

What a great looking rig. I am planning to do similar things to mine. Is that an ARB awning? How did you mount it to the fiberglass shell?

Thanks. No it is just a Fiamma awning, the one in a pocket, not hard shell.
With a standard caravan/camper awning runner (or however you call it), which we drilled into the roof at several points.
