Haha I'm sorry but how can a diesel from the nineties not be charged?

I don't know how the system works, but here with the environmental city zones, the diesels from the nineties are never allowed. And that is not so strange actually

I posted the same,a while back. The vehicle emissions charge is from when the van was registered in the U.K ,not when the van was built.
Its going to take them quite a while to sort that little glitch out .

just checked mine too and yes no charge due 27 year old diesel turbo and it can drive over tower bridge

Haha this is ridiculous.
I guess here in mainland Europe we have much more importing and exporting going on, that we would not make such a mistake/loophole. Everything here is based on year of manufacturing.

But even that is silly, the Euro 3 / 4 / 5 levels and so on should just be registered for each car. But they never built up that info.
