| Hi, first post here. I've only had my SC since October and am preparing for retirement travel. Only 60000 on the clock but I had to get the front diff fixed at great expense, now my trusted mechanic tells me a new radiator is needed (or at least the "top" tank), but he's having trouble locating one. Anyone know of a parts supplier in Aust? preferably east coast. Is the radiator interchangeable with any other Toyota? Any help much appreciated | |

cheers No luck yet with a radiator in Aus, only thing so far is import from Japan ETA 3 weeks and $1100 As the tanks are plastic there is no repair possible, but my trusted mechanic is going to investigate having one made (metal instead of plastic), as the import is so expensive anyway. Just have to wait and see, meantime he has "ordered" the import just in case.

| Recore was not an option as mine was a plastic tanks radiator and the tank has perished. But my trusty mechanic has found someone who is making a brass & copper one for me in 3 days, at the same cost as importing an original ($1100). Plus unlike plastic it can be repaired if that should become necessary in future. If anyone else wants to go this route I can get the name of the obliging manufacturer. I understand there are two tanks and assume (hope) that only one is plastic as this cannot be recored or the plastic tanks repaired. Anyway, the original tank has lasted 14 years, and the mechanic says the new metal one should last longer, so I suspect by the time it dies I will be driving a gopher instead of a car | |

My mechanic tells me the front diff, radiator and turbo appear to be the only things NOT interchangeable with cars sold in Aust. Trust me to get 2 out of 3 I'm getting a timer for turbo wind-down when switching off so I can't forget and make it 3 out of 3
