| I'm wanting to install a z5 (a tube of metal that goes in the air intake hose) but as far as i can tell this is under the drivers seat. i had a go at removing the drivers seat and the panel, but the next problem was the hand brake cable because the hand brake is attached to that panel. im not sure what to do hear or what other steps would be required to remove the air intake hose.
any tips at all would be greatly appreciated and ill post my results if i can get the thing installed! ive heard of 3 other hiace owners that have gotten around a 20% increase in fuel efficiency with the z5. im about to also try out Xtreme fuel treatment over the next few tanks of fuel. ive heard good things from customers over in oz from the panacea - bocaf group. |

| Slide out their clips the accelarator cables from under the panel. Did you unbolt the handbrake lever? ou need to then there should be just enough freedom to flip the floor panel up and over towards the rear. From wha I remember the ai intake hose is right there.
Can you please tell us a bit more about the z5 tube.

| The z5 appears to be a metal alloy which with air running over it at high speed ionises the airflow going into the cylinder for a few microseconds. im yet to determine what the deal is here and what that means for combuistion. it may reduce ignition temperature or increase burn rate. Panacea-bocaf have done successful tests. i hear 3 standard hiaces have gotten around 20% fuel saivng with the z5 and XFT.
I am saving 15% approx (+ or - 5%) in fuel by using XFT xtreme fuel treatment alone after 4 tanks of use on highways. this shit really seems to work. i met with ash who is a trustee of panacea bocaf in brisbane and id encourage anyone to try it for themselves. The z5 which is a minor modification will improove that efficiency even further. watch all of these if your keen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZWHOaTlbMA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoCMQ_XKA8U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1OZZ3NIkZE
i probably wont buy the z5 right now as it im about to fly to canada and wont use my car for a while but its going to be the first thing i do when i get back. i just drove from bendigo to fraser island and back ( a few thousand k's). i started the trip using 14 l/100 k of diesel. realised over time by reducing my speed to 90kph that fuel efficiency improoved to about 11-12l/100k. with xft, my last tank got me 9.9 l/100k.
thankyou for the help. i will comment further next time i pull the van apart and try and install a z5, in the meantime, id encourage you other peeps to try this out. you will make your money back quickly. |

| Does this XFT xtreme fuel treatment need to be added every time you refuel or is it a one off treatment? | |

| You add .25 oz of liquid to 76 L of fuel, each time you fill up. It should easily pay for itself. it takes about 3-5 tanks before i noticed anything.
apparently in canada both these solutions are becoming quite popular. i think the z5 was invented by an israeli fellow. |

| Thanks for that. Is it available at the usual outlets i.e. Sprints, Repco, Supercheap, Autobarn etc ? | |

| i haven't seen it there, but let me know if you catch it. so far you order it online. id recomend getting it through panacea if you could as it might give them a little kick back from the company and if it weren't for their independent research and testing i wouldn't be game enough to try any of this stuff. |

| I have googled for some information on this product including an msds and I'm not impressed with what I have found. It appears to be part of some clever scam. So for me, I'll stick to just plain diesel, regular maintenance and sensible driving | |

| yeah the marketing looks dodge, ill agree with you there, but it works for me and an independent non profit organisation has tested and confirmed it too. |

| I'm sceptical too. I read some of their advertising speel and I cannot see how placing a piece of copper in the airflow stream can ionise the air nor if it really aids combustion.
I remember seeing an old advert recently of one of the major spark plug manufactuers who use to sell plugs with a radioactive conductor. If it worked surely they would be doing something similar?
Agree with wernerk. Can you post a link to the msds please.
Seen the product on Amazon. It has one review. A 5* from... Syntek Xtreme Fuel Additive
Is it just benzene? | |

| As I suspected... http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_Xtreme_Fuel_Treatment_really_work_to_increase_MPG_in_cars
msds is material safety data sheet. They are produced for all chemicals and chemical products for health and safety information. It contains information such as chemical make up (can be very lacking here because of product protection but it should at least say if it is hydrocarbon based for example). Gives levels of toxicity, hazards, spillage handling, reactivity with other chemicals and disposal. Try googling sodium chloride msds and have a look at one.
By the way, I,m a chemist... can you tell?

| Hi Simon, I'm also a chemist (of 26 years) !! and no, I DO NOT work in a chemist shop, lol!!
Probably should have specified what an msds was, but one gets so blase when you work with them daily.
I have read the msds for the Xtreme fuel treatment product and it appears there are 5 components, 3 of which are naphthenic oil, an amine (possibly a quaternary ammonium compound i.e. detergent) and a bactericide (the azine compound).
As for the z5, maybe the increased turbulence of the air produced by the metal tube with the star pattern possibly influences the combustion, but then I'm not a chemical engineer.....
My mechanic (who teaches motor mechanics) says he hasn't really seen much in the way of improvements in fuel efficiency by inserting something into the air intake.
On the 4runner, we increased the diameter of the exhaust system tubing and installed extracters which did appear to improve the fuel efficiency somewhat (as well as make the engine sound louder).

| i found this document through google http://issuu.com/makeyourgaslast/docs/xft-msds
if it didn't work for that guy, its worked for me and 3 others with hiaces who have reported it to panacea-bocaf. |

| Hi peoples I am new and testing my 3.0 ltr turbo sc which I love! however after my second trip and testing she may think I am a nasty old fart first trip to Albury with roof rack on and no luggage up top 4 people in van and under bed storage at rear full. Half an hour suburb travel and then highway all the way mostly 110 kph up and back achieved 16 klm per 100 litres today I returned from Gunbower forrest Cohuna I travelled the same city work and kept my speed at 100 kph most of the way too destination with a surprised effort from my sc in deep wet ruts a lot of mud and water to get to the river with 2 people on board minus the middle seat which is where the kitchen will end up and under bed storage full I achieved on the way12.3 klm per 100 litres my return trip I will let you after I fill her tomorrow cheers and hope this helps !! as for Additives I worked selling Wynn's for a couple of years " Forget it" Kimbo PS( tacho ) 2200 to 2400 on my sc seems to be the sweet spot I achieve that with 235/75r15 tyres. | |
