| I have 3L (2.8 L diesel) and am wondering if the valves have to be adjusted at any regular interval or do they adjust themselves automatically??? | |

| If the valve seats wear the valve gap closes after VERY high mileage or overheating or ? head gasket gone . If you want to check them I have the 3L engine manual plus all the shim sizes - its a bug*** to get 'em right. | |

| I have not had overheating issues, only at 150,000 km, and it's running fine. I was just wondering if there was a suggested milage to adjust them.
I'll leave them alone because like my father use to say... If it's not broken, don't break it.

Let me know if setting the valve clearance on your 2LT helps with the white smoke. I saw you post about that on another thread. I've heard the 2.4 is prone to blowing head gaskets. I don't want to throw that evil on you Ricky Bobby, I've got my fingers crossed for you that she just needs a tune up.

| So my hiace is no longer smoking after I blocked the EGR. No white, blue, or black smoke. I regained all of my lost power but I was hoping that adjusting the valves, turning up the fuel pump, and adding a manual boost controller to up the boost a few pounds will give me the power I'm really looking for. | |

| I'd love to see pictures of how you blocked the EGR. I've heard all the reasons why they put these in cars but I really think we would all be better off without them. | |
