A mystery

Ok,so happily trundling along,turn the indicator on to go round a corner.Blinker is happily blinking away then it stops.
Later on check and sure enough the indicators are not working.Track down the fuse box,locate the appropriate fuse and replace with same(new).Try turn signal and the 10 amp fuse immeadiately blows.
Swear alot.
Replace blown 10 amp with 15 amp(only one I had to hand).Turn signals now work as they should.
My question is...Will this use of a larger fuse amperage cause damage elsewhere?
Also,what could be the reason the 10 amp is now not able to perform as it should?

Short circuit, likely to be a bare wire. Yes the higher fuse could cause the wiring to catch fire rather than killing the circuit.

I guess you need to consider whether the wiring can handle 15amp...if it can't it'll go up in smoke...maybe the bus too....
Causes...dunno....a short is the obvious thing to check for...trace all connections/wiring you can...look for signs of chafing/burning/arcing......examine the bulb holders for security and generally everywhere for moisture ingress (which will short things)....

Something not right, probably best to check what else is on that circuit and see where the problem is.... may be something simple like a bad connection on the bulb....

10 amp is the fuse recommended so I guess the next job is to track down the fault.

Might be worth taking the fuse out and working out what else doesn;t work, i'm not sure ifanything else is on that circuit, but someone else on here may know....

Yeah,seems isolated to just the indicators as all other lights are working as they should,and nothing else appears to be malfunctioning.

The description for that fuse does show as the indicators only.
