| Hi, still having problems with o/d light flashing, trying to do diagnostics by connecting TE1 to E1 but no lights coming on, why? Also where are the speed sensors on the automatic transmission and are solenoids easy to replace (do you have to take the box off?). All this coz when the car is hot (10km +) wont go into reverse and keeps dithering between 3 and 4th gear, when car is cold no problems. Recent oil change and the sump was cleaned out last year. This is the 2,8 model. any forums that specialise in auto boxes? getting desperate | |

| I don't know much so take it with a pinch of salt...but I thought the electronic soleniods were just for the ECT button...ie: to delay the gearchage when the button is in. At least one of these things is visible with the sump pan off. The only speed sensor (gear driven) that I know of is for the power steering...the trachoid pump on the side of the gearbox....the speedo cable is bolted into it. I'd guess the flashing o/d light must be some generic toyota thing related to certain models...no idea what though if the fluid is on the mark (when the engine is hot and running). Maybe try some searches over here....... http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/ The only time I've read of the no reverse thing on forums theyve taken it to a shop . I'd guess hilux and similar sites may be worth a try too. The 4wd owners seem more familiar with gearbox and drive issues...cause they keep breaking them............... I'd guess there may be some valve issue in the box...sorry I can't help... Do look at the 4wd forums though...is there no transmission specialist you can take it to? | |

| Hi, Chrisand hiace, I quote you on a toyotowners forum issue: "there is also a sensor on top of the pump again you will have to try moving one way or the other.if you look down onto the pump there is a black round sensor if you turn it to far one way the gear box will not kick down at all. to far the other way will keep it in a low gear. put it in the middle and you will find this will cure your problem . dont forget to check that you have connected the kick down cable on the accelerator. " where is the injecture pump? Have had someone fiddle with the ferrule and it only adjusted the gear changing slightly. The weird thing is that the car works perfectly for about the first 10km ie before it gets really hot. will question toyotaownersclub when I remember my log in details! | |

| I think they are just talking about adjusting the kickdown cable / combined with the speed sensor which switches off the aircon maybe.....(pm me a link...it does'nt sound like one my postings as it doesn't make sense) Seem to remember years ago from another car (peugeot) that a severe kickdown malajustment really sent the gearbox crazy...never tried reverse though.......if the ferrules at the end (regrdless of minor time stretch) it should not cause any severe problems. Just phoning a autobox specialist will answer whether kick cable issues will effect reverse....doubt it myself, but you need specialist advice. Trust you are using dexron?...... | |

| Hi, do you have any contact details for a specialist auto box repairer, one who knows our vehicle? I live in France so none here. We put in a dexron 2 compatible oil (total). Before we had no probs, thats why its so weird. | |

| Hi Guys, I have a 1994 hiace super custom 3l turbo diesel, it started to have what seems to be a common problem with these transmissions from the research i have been doing it started slipping when you put it in Drive, so ive had to drive it like a manual starting in Low gear, then into 2nd then into drive.
Does anyone know what has caused this issue, is it something blocked inside the oil system, is it electrical or mechanical?
any help is appreciated.
Thanks Mazin | |
