1995 3.0 turbo diesel ????

Removed rear seats (in storage at my place) and knocked up a simple yet effective home away from home that I travelled from Sydney to Cairns > Daintree Rainforest > Sydney > Byron Bay > Brisbane > Sydney in 9 or so months. I even took it along some decent 4WD tracks. Incredible vans.

Been there done that got the tee shirt vantastic Perth to Sidney to Townsville to Mount Izac to Alice to Airs rock back to Perth to Exmouth back to Perth and the south west and lots in between in a 1986 Toyota Hiace camper never missed a beat 25,000 kin all.

Hey Markmark88! Nice camp conversion. I just bought my 95 last week and it came with a pine bed frame and mattress with the rear seat removed but the middle swivel seats still in there. My wife now insists we keep those seats as we won’t camp in it much but may need to pick up a few of my son’s mates for play dates.

Mine has no curtains but the smick curtain rails are there and i really want curtains to keep sun off my boards and to keep baddies from being tempted. One of the main reasons I joined the forum was to see if anybody knows how to get curtains or even just the runners that fit into the aluminium tracks and I’ll male my own.

Nice mate. What a bloody treat you’re in for! This forum man has been literally a saviour sometimes. Righteo, djathens posted a pretty good site to check out. As for curtains, might be a bit hard pressed finding some but it’s worth a look. Check out gumtree for SC’s that are at wreckers. They’re rare to come by man and when you do find one it seems the part you needed is also the part every other SC owner needs. Gotta be quick. If you can’t find any, it could be worth making some up, literally just like a swivel that join from the runners to the curtains themselves. Whether or not the electric button to open them in yours works still? Mine makes noises and I here the drive point try push the curtains along but nothing happens. Anyways mate, best of luck! Chuck some photos up when you get the chance.

Thanks guys. My wife is Japanese but we have struggled with the Japanese yahoo site in the past tbh. Your bloody brave to take it on even with the language set to English I reckon!

Firstly I’m gunna have to get to know my little truck a bit better so I don’t ask too many dumb questions. My 95 model does not have the moon roofs and I also haven’t spotted a button for curtains as yet. I’m off to take some pics of interior now actually.

I don't have much choice but to dive in and decipher Yahoo! Japan auctions, as there are no wrecking yards in the USA that have these vans. If I'm lucky enough, Toyota USA will have a part that's shared across multiple vehicles that were sold in the US (4runner, Land Cruiser, pickup truck, etc), otherwise I'm left with searching eBay (partSouq is a good store for OEM parts), or Buyee, which acts as a proxy between Yahoo! Japan and foreign buyers. Buyee's chat agents are very helpful and will ask the Japanese sellers questions on your behalf.

I got my curtains from Leatherseat. in hong kong great fit and they came with the runners.

Sounds like you’ve got some good avenues to explore so far man! Awesome, I ended up investing in the google translate app to decipher all the Japanese writing on my SC. I was so intrigued by what the little sign on the outside of the sliding passenger door said. Turns out it says “shoes strictly prohibited” so awesome. Anyways, look forward to seeing yours! Pity about true moon roof, makes for a great sleep on a clear night out bush.

Runners for the curtain tracks seem to be a fairly standard item. I found some at a local caravan supply place in Brendale (north of Brisbane). They were a tiny fraction too large but opening the track up slightly with a screwdriver made them usable.
