| My interior light stopped yesterday so heres the info.. I know its basic but it might be useful to someone in the same situation. 1. Remove the plastic switch cover. Prize the cover up at the edge towards the front of the van. You can see an indent where the clip is. The rear has 2 larger lugs that will snap. 2. Remove the screw at the front of the diffuser. The rest of the diffuser is held in by formed plastic clips around the edge. Use a small flathead to release each clip. Start at the front ( by the screw) as once again there are 2 larger lugs at the rear of the diffuser which need to come out last. 3. In my case a real easy fix because all that had happened was a bad connection between the tube and the white connector . 4. Whilst you've got it out give the inside of the diffuser a clean . 5. Re place the diffuser. Fix the rear in place first then clip in working towards the front. Re-fix screw. 6. Refit switch plate from rear first. (making sure the switch is engaged in the slide). 7. And then in Gordon Ramsy style say " centre light not working....DONE" | |

| Good piece, but i'm stuck on how to wire in some LCD's insted of the bulb, recognise that the board changes the voltage, but anyone fitted a 12v lamp into the fitting, would like to keep the switch and look of the original if i can ! | |

| Is it a 4 pin tube?
If so they are £10ish on ebay UK, should anyone want one.

| I'm having trouble finding a replaccement tube. Any details available anywhere? (apart from the tube) I think I might just change the base to a 4 flat pin and keep using the fitting. Cheaper and can pick one up at any electrical wholesaler | |

| I did stumble across someone making simple adapters that are hidden behind the lens and fitted with 'cree' (or ssc) leds...... Looked pretty good but I did'nt save the link and for the life of me can't find it again.... If you like to improvise its worth thinking about anyway........ Should just be a case of getting a star within the right voltage range and ensuring the emmitter star has some form of heat sinking........brightness could be reduced with resistors if required as these things are very bright. 'Deal extreme' is a cheap source.......look under flashlight/diy.......... | |

| May need more wattage for brightness........... http://www.dealextreme.com/search.dx/search.bulb brings up those angel eyes you liked..... Something like http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5876 mounted on a star and heatsink should be plenty bright... I go there for the P7 flashlights....great for the bicycle | |

| Thanks boys, 500 Lumen is pretty good chrisandhiace but how do you wire it up? Straight off the swith? (I'm guessing so if it's a 12V baby) Maybe soldering on the back... My P7 is freekin bright and that's only 190 Lumen in comparison so a couple of these and she'll be glowing like a XMas tree!!! | |

| Oh... star!....gott it. Is that just for mounting purposes? Sorry. I normally play with the big stuff (11/33/132KV) Maybe I should drop into the instrument section at work. They love this stuff!!! | |

I'm guessing a resistor may be required to reduce the supply a touch....there may be 13.8 v at the switch... Test it with a volt/multimeter if you can with the engine running to establish how many volts you have to play with...the supply may already be regulated to a different voltage before the switch......then you'll know what emitter to use. P7 s are supposed to hit 900 lumen with the optimum supply....the P7 flashlights never hit 900........they still rule though I have a few...best for cycling I have is the spiderfire p7.....very wide spill/wall of light. My son was following me the other day on full beam...could'nt see him....just a blinding light...oncoming cars would stop! - Quote :

Basically yes........ The danger with 'higher powered' leds when operated at near full power is they can over heat and burn themselves out. With some thermal mounting under the led it sucks the heat onto the alloy star....the star is then mounted to something that will suck a little more heat off...with flashlights its a pill which in turn transfers heat to the alloy torch body.........

| ok, so i have a set of 12v LED's, i guess i'm gonna have to seperate the circuit board from the fitting and solder in the wires?
Without breaking the circuit board ??? Is it just a prise out and prey jobbie?

| Looks like your'e going to find out! The mystical site (lost) I refered to before on some conversions used the old tube ends to connect up....you could probably fabricate something up that is a direct replacement for the tube with some ingenuity....something to sleep on I've noticed some 12v led door lights on e-bay where they stipulate they must'nt be used with the engine running or they may fry....the 13.8 volts bit!......so be wary and check the voltage at the fitting with the engine running. It may be regulated to something entirely different though ...I've never needed to check............. If I had to I'd think about using the tube ends of the old bulb to make your own direct replacement........ | |

| If you can be bothered with all that fiddle or just drop into Jay car and pick up a replacement 12 watt lamp, they are round in shape but have the same pin arrangement just a few cable ties to hold tight - good as! | |

| Yeah you want the 12 watt round fluro - Jay car cat.QM-3521 The original lamp i think was 11 watt or 13 watt, but have found the round one works just as well and have used it for over a year now. | |
