| I was working on a mates Hiace this morning I think it might be a KZH110G but I'm not sure It's a ten seat Japanese import, I think what is known as a "commuter bus" I was only doing some wiring on it There is a small bore rubber pipe that goes from the coolant filler cap to the top of the radiator and as I moved the pipe a bit it spanned off. I think it's the plastic of the actual radiator that has snapped. The van went home on the back of a lorry. I'm extremely upset to have done this to a mate. Can anyone tell me where I can get a radiator for this and whether it is unique to this vehicle or the same as other Hiaces It's a 3.0 litre turbo diesel automatic with air conditioning and an electronically controlled injection pump. | |

| Hmm not good... You might get lucky and get one at a wreckers but i doubt it. I'm on the hunt for one too but have had no luck at all. I've ordered one through Toyota and they are getting one from Japan $900 AUD. Mines the same its got plastic tanks instead of brass. The plastic ones cant be repaired and we cant use the radiators out of the early model ones cause they don't have the pipe connections for the turbo. I was told by a radiator specialist that the plastic tanks get weak and brittle after about 12 years so it probably didn't take much to break ay. | |

| Just wonder if the rad out of the Granvia/Regius is the same?
My EPC is old and does not include the later versions so can't check.

| the van is in a garage having the radiator pulled I'm expecting a big bill just for that
I think that there is enough of the stub left that hopefully I can tap a thread into it and then screw in a brass hose end to clamp the hose onto
If the hose end it screwed in with an O ring and a smear of epoxy on the threads I suspect it will hold. I might have to get a custom hose end made though
I'll post back how it goes

| I'm a bit late giving feedback on this, but I did manage to fix it. Sorry about the phone camera shots. Anyway, this is the front of the radiator. I'm not sure what the extra hoses are for, maybe transmission cooler? This is the back of the radiator This is the bit that snapped off This is a stub that I made I found that B&Q sell length of brass rod. This is an 8mm solid rod. First thing was to file one end down to a bit under 7mm so that I could tap an M6 thread on it. The barbed bit was done by wrapping a bit of twin&earth type copper wire around. Then I heated it up and covered it in solder. Once it was cool I filed it shape. This was all done with a bench vice, blowlamp, file, hacksaw and cheap tap/die set from Aldi. Finally I drilled a hole right through the middle. This was the trickiest part. Then I tapped an M6 thread in the remains of the broken radiator, put high temp epoxy on the thread of the new stub and screwed it in. The van has been in use for a few months since and seems to be fine. | |

| Mate you have way too much time on your hands! Well done on the repair. Oh and yes those other two pipes are from the auto tranny and cooler that mounts in front of the rad, not sure why it goes through the main radiator when it has its own separate cooler? I just replaced both my radiators on the weekend with brand new ones. I noticed that small pipe when removing the hoses and like yours mine broke off with no effort at all, the plastic had gone to mush inside the hose. Both my rad's were in real bad shape, they were blocked up and were leaking from both tanks. All good now though. https://hiace-super-custom.forumotion.com/t431p15-removing-a-radiator-from-1995-hiace-custom-1kz-te-kzh106g?highlight=radiator | |
