120 amp ALT fuse Empty
PostSubject: 120 amp ALT fuse   120 amp ALT fuse Icon_minitimeFri Dec 24, 2010 2:12 pm

Hi,

A friend has a 1992 hiace super custom limited, imported to the uk in 2003.

An interior light was left on for a few days which killed the battery. An attempt was then made to jump-start it but with the leads the wrong way around which has blown the 120 amp "ALT" fuse in the box that's connected directly to the battery terminal. All the other fuses in this box pulled out fairly easily but this one would not and we've pretty much destroyed it trying. It was getting dark by then but this fuse seems different from the others.

So, would be grateful if someone could let us know how this fuse is supposed to come out and where we can get a replacement from (in the uk). I've found a couple of similar ones on ebay and now think it may be a male fuse rather than female like the others - is this right? Also, is the 120 amp rating its "working" value or its "blow" value?

Any other likely damage to look out for?

Any help would be much appreciated as the truck is used for his work.

thanks, Baz.

Just to say that we replaced the fuse and the van is running again. as clive said, it was bolted in place. The bolts being hidden behind two hinged plastic "doors" either side of the fusebox.
Thanks again for the help.
