Hi guys,

I've just bought an 87 4wd Hiace super custom, and plan on doing a camper conversion, and making it a bit more off-road ready. I'm planning on doing a 2" lift/suspension upgrade, snorkel, bull bar, roof rack and new wheels/tyres.

Being an older vehicle (and living in NZ), I'm having a real issue finding any aftermarket parts off the shelf for any of it. I'm just having some wheels and tyres fitted, and was going to do the lift at the same time, but they can't find any shocks or springs for it. Does anyone know of any available? They can get springs custom made but there's a 10 week turn around.

Thanks in advance.

Go over to the Aussie facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1141854499504688/
Look for front ford coils to replace the rear super custom coils, extended KYB rear shocks, low profile upper bump stops, brake bias reposition and maybe cut and shut your panhard rod with adjuster from the cheapest commodore? adjustable panhard rod. Start spraying penetrating fluid on front cam bolts. Wind up front torsion bars and you are done. Keep cv boots as clean as possible as bellows will grind more against each other leading to earlier failure. Also support https://www.facebook.com/groups/632302812018448/

Hi Lennywagon,

How did you get on?

I'm in NZ too. I just posted some related info on https://hiace-super-custom.forumotion.com/t4457-kzh138-2inches-lift-heavy-duty-suspension-upgrade

A guy at Autolign worked out some springs and shocks for me.

geoffreyKZH138V has got some good ideas. I might check the other brand ones out too!

I'm not too keen about the winding up the front though, it still leave us with the same spring rate. I did it and ended up winding them back a wee bit as the advantage was not there but the negatives were.

These guys seem to put a 2” lift on all the vans they sell so may be worth a call / email etc. They’re the other side of the Pacific Ocean, but it’s 2024!
