Glow plug relay Empty

Hi all. Advice needed please. '92 3L engine. 2.8 Diesel.
I won’t go into why but the glow plug relay and mounting plate are detached. Its still wired in and indeed the van starts but i'm wondering if has to also be earthed?

Thoughts please?
