Hello. I’ve absolutely no idea, but it looks funky. Do you have all-wheel drive and does this disengage the rear somehow (total guess). Hope you find out and post here and that it’s something cool.
I’d try the following:
Is there wiring to the back of the unit or is it a prank?
Does the switch light up? Does it make another dash light come on? Does it matter whether the engine is running? From outside or below, can you hear it activating a solenoid or vacuum valve somewhere? Does it work / not work if the vacuum pump is disconnected?
Do you have an options list for your van and is there something it could be listed there?
Can you pull off the wiring loom from the switch and check the switch actually functions / switches something? Does the wiring appear OEM?
Is there continuity between the switch and one of the fuses that might help to identify it?
Do you have any blown fuses?
Does the switch receive power (is it live all the time or switched through the ignition / engine running).
Download the electrical manual from here:
https://www.hiacesoutheast.com/hiace-manuals and search for any loom or connector numbers or wiring colour combinations that seem to be appropriate.
Is it just a random switch that works something very mundane like rear fogs, or an interior light that's failed, but appears funky?
HTH and post what you find!
