| weight plate located under passenger seat mine is a 2.4 TD which has a kerb weight of 1825kgs allowed towing weight is approx 85% of kerb weight caravan dealer told me mine could tow 20 cwt /1 ton only thing is these 2.4 don't go up hills very well let alone towing a caravan or horse box | |

| I wondered where the weight tag was, I couldnt find my one.
I too have a 2.4 TD, which is slow up hills. When I do go up hills, I flick off the overdrive which helps.
You are right, I reckon if you want to tow a caravan, you need more power, a 3.0TD would be best.
Fuel comsumption on the 2.4 is better generally though.

| So is there a 2.4 AND a 2.4turbo in the Hiace? I didn't know this. Just curious.
I have a 3.0TD and it feels quite powerful but I've not towed with it. Probably okay as it's same engine as the old model Landcruiser Colorado. Mine is 4wd and auto so it's a bit thirsty. It's also a poptop camper so maybe a bit heavier. I must check the plate.
