Subject: Why don’t we have bull bars? Tue Jul 07, 2020 10:36 am
I searched for bullbars and found 2 threads on the I need... section with two guys chasing bullbars that got no replies.
Even the off road guru Hiace Hobo doesn’t seem to run one. I have the raised Cobra Springs on the way from NZ for my 2wd. Last week I paid and am now waiting for the first batch of Yokohama geo G015 to come in in the 215/70 R15 size which will give me only 14mm increase on my plated 205s. Those on my new black Sunraysias with the little suspension lift will go great with a bullbar. I really want to improve my approach angle and get rid of the plastic front bumper and not make it worse with a bullbar with those 2 stupid bars that come from underneath the standard front end.
Any reason I don’t see any even on the 4wd guys cars?

I like the naked look of the ones fitted to Delicas. Surely a guy that’s good with a gas axe and a welder could persuade one of those to fit. They seem to be easy to find.

trying to work out why you would want to alter your approach angle with a 2wd?

Easier to steer around the bulls
Careful not to restrict any air inlets below the bumper if you fit them.

I tried unsuccessfully to get a bullbar when I first bought my Hiace. One supplier could source one that would fit in theory but the horizontal radiator prevents normal attachment. The supplier said I would need to find an engineer to design a new attachment method. It all seemed too difficult.

If anyone’s still looking, I came across this bumper replacement bullbar, not sure if they’re still available but it’s a start. Presumably they’d fit SC’s https://www.formulaoffroad.com.au/find-my-vehicle/toyota-hiacecommuter-bull-bar-998-205-hiace/
