| In for it's MOT and a previous repair on the sump is leaking again. Also looking a little corroded in other places, so probably time for a replacement. Though the garage believes another temporary repair should be enough for a ticket.
Read a few threads on here and there is plenty of advice on repairs, but success in sourcing the part seems a little inconclusive.
Has anybody had any success with this ?

| Mixed results so far with plenty of online sources offering a third party product at roughly £180.
However, nobody currently stocking them.
Local Toyota dealer can source one at £480 !!!!!! With mates rates it's £360, which is great, but still excessive.
Garage has completed two patches which he is confident will last, but obviously cant make any promises.
I think ultimately that finances will dictate events here.

| Damn, sorry you're having no luck. If you were here I'm sure one of the many wreckers would be able to help you with a second-hand one but freight across the world would kill that. What's damaged on yours? | |

| Hey Kippax, I've imported parts quite a few times from different suppliers. If you love the van it's worth paying the money. Just type in the part number on google and see what comes up. I'm taking it you've used https://www.toyodiy.com/ so you know what you your part number is?
As you're running the 2.4 engine it should the same engine as in the HIACE COMPACT which was the UK version. You could look for one in a wreckers here?

| I know your pain, my 2.4 sum is porous and drips a little, I've been looking for one for 3 years, can't really afford the genuine like you say at £400 odd plus it looks an absolute nightmare to replace | |

| Well, after looking under the front drivers wheel as I need a brake hose I noticed a bit more oil around the sump than than normal, further looking shows what looks like a hole in the top of the sump extension, I've known it's been pourous for ages and just putting it off but now seems a must, unlikely to make really retro show in Stafford 23rd June now | |

Sorry fella, been a bit busy. He did it with like a metalised putty which sets hard over time. Not sure it was itemised on the bill, but will check tonight and get back to you later.

| Had a look at the bill and though it's not itemised, I reckon he charged me less than an hours labour + £10 for materials.
Given that he didn't change the oil he must have done the work in situ.
He has written and highlighted at the bottom of the receipt that it is a temporary repair.

| Can you get the sump off Mick? Mine looks a real pain to get out but if you can get it out someone could weld up a steel one for you. | |
