| Hey brains trust, i recently had a new stereo installed and the guy tokd me that there is a factory amp which is “a real pain to get to” because of this factory amp the stereo has a constant white noise sound. Has anyone removed this on their sc and is there an easier way thsn removing the entire dash? | |

| Is that and RF (aerial) amp? I think there is one next to the front sunroof. Or was it a power amp?
There's not much space in a Hiace so if it's a power amp it must be in the dash or below the centre console.
Where did he say it was installled? | |

| On my 1991 Super Custom, there is an amp behind and above the glove box. It's listed as part 86280 in the below linked parts diagram: Parts diagram From other threads in the forum I've read about car stereo stuff, it sounds like a "rip it all out and start over" type job is often the most straightforward way to go, which is a bummer as I was hoping to add an amp to drive my new speakers | |

| All being well you should be able to pop the old amp out and replace it with a new one, probably in the same place. You should be able to use the old wiring to the old amp to wire in the new one. Never underestimate the usefulness of some terminal connectors/chock blocks (not sure what you call them in the US) to make wiring a doddle.
Cheers,
