| Hi!
I’m new to the HiAce world and I hope you will forgive my ignorance. I was attempting to search this board for my answer but no luck with that so here’s the question. How many km/h can you drive on a highway for a sustained period without taxing the engine. My HiAce can go about 90-100 km/h at 3000 rpms. I don’t want to push it too much but it’s nice to go faster when covering many kilometers of road. I’d love to know what’s acceptable/ healthy for my van as I hike to take it on a very long distance trip very soon.
Thanks!! Sooze | |

| Probably depends largely on the engine and gearbox + year and model, all information that we don't know Also pop the details into your profile so it pops up under 'Home City' etc so people can see at a glance. | |

| Looks good, a bit like Hiace4wd's one I think - so you can compare and contrast.
Auto or manual ? (Can't recall which one his is). | |

| Ok. Makes sense - I doubt you'd want to know if it was a manual LOL - I should have figured that out Mine is the 1kz-te 3.0D with automatic, your 3000rpm at 60mph sounds a bit like mine without OD (overdrive) selected. Have a look at the vehicle info plate under the passenger seat area, under the carpet near the wheel. It should show the transmission and axle (diff) on it, then we can look that up to see how many gears you are supposed to have, While the bonnet is open check the autobox dipstick. The level marking are only valid for a running engine at idle in park BTW. Wipe the end on a white piece of plastic and see what colour it is. If it's pink/red the mechanicals are almost certainly OK. Does it change gear well as you'd expect? | |
