hope iam in the right forum i have a 2.8 diesel 1994 hiace camper jap import.i was hoping someone could tell me the oil type this engine uses.i have had it a couple of months now and iam planning on doing a minor service oil/air/fuel filter change.cheers in advance

Cheap Diesel oil, no need spending on synthetic as the oil should be changed every 5000 kms. It is an old design engine with lots of blowby hence jet black oil seconds after you put nice clear oil in.
