Hi, The TEMS shocks have a small motor on top, this turns an internal shaft & adjusts the damping from soft to firm by altering the port sizes through which the damping oil flows. It is controlled by the dash button. It should ,if working make the suspension feel soft or firm. This is an old idea, usually dropped by the makers after a short while. I suspect however that in the case of these buses the effect is largely illusionary and is more of a sales gimmick in Japan where big boy's toys sell well.I think that a set of ordinary Hiace dampers would work just as well.It is not a tricky damping requirement on this type of vehicle. It would be worth checking aftermarket suppliers like Koni to see what is available. Also another member may be breaking a bus for spares & have a set available.
