Hi Guys had my 1993 Hiace2.8 a week now had the alternator replaced on day 1and all has been good since.
Went over a bump yesterday and heard the bottom scrape thought nothing of it except GRRR but now when i turned my ignition today i am getting a noise from underneath like a pump or fan noise that i havent heard before, being a newbie im not sure where everything is yet so i decided to pull some fuses/relays until i located the problem. on pulling the one marked RR HTR on the centre set of fuses under the ashtray the noise stopped. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this is, i am currently 500 miles from home on holiday in Scotland and would like to travel back in a few days without worrying too much!

I just checked my 95 3.0l and couldnt see a rr htr. there was a fr htr though.

Was there a number on the socket you pulled the fuse from ?

The manual I have doesnt give any likely match up so best guess from me would be rear heater.

Could this stand for FR = front right and RR = rear right and the htr could the be short for heater?

Just a guess don't know if it helps.

I wonder if you have scraped the insulation off the rear heater fan wire so it is on all the time - and so looks like a torch, a sheet on the floor and on yer back my son!!
On my camper the heater is just inside the nearside sliding door and the wires are shielded. Plenty of room to have a look underneath- I am sure you will see where ground met Hiace!!

My guess is that the bump you hit and the sound are unrelated.

Does this sound go on again when you put the fuse back in?
Does the sound go off when the rear heater is shut off?

Maybe the bump switched the rear heater on.

My camper has a pull out black knob which is a bit loose and I guess if I clobbered the Lincolnshire Tarmac it could switch itself on - Zoochy could be right - coincidental happenings!!

hey guys thanks for the replys.
Theres was no number where i pulled the relay from.
When i put it back in it the sound starts again.
I dont know how to put the rear heater on or off .... i am a total noob lol
John i wish i could get under it its a little low 4 me though and im on holiday so not really anywhere to do it till i get home, i think it all points to rear heater though but as i said i cant really do much to find out at the moment, really appreciate the support.
